As required by state statutes and illustrated below, each local government located within NKAPC’s jurisdiction appoints two of its elected officials to seats on the Northern Kentucky Area Planning Council (one member and one alternate each). The NKAPCouncil selects seven persons to serve on the Northern Kentucky Area Planning Commission. Its responsibility is to provide direction to and oversight of the NKAPCommission and the organization’s finances.
The NKAPCommission oversees the professional staff on a day-to-day basis. It pursues its responsibilities through interlocal agreements, contracts for professional services, organizational commitments, and state and federal contracts. It also hires the executive director who is responsible for hiring and overseeing the staff.
