Organization Structure

As illustrated below, each local government located within the NKAPC jurisdiction appoints two of its elected officials to seats on the Area Planning Council (one member and one alternate each). The Area Planning Council elects seven persons to two-year alternating terms on the Area Planning Commission.
The Area Planning Commission pursues its responsibilities through interlocal agreements, contracts for professional services, organizational commitments, and state and federal contracts. The Area Planning Commission also hires the executive director who is responsible for hiring and overseeing the professional staff.
