NKAPCouncil

The Northern Kentucky Area Planning Council meets three times annually- generally in January, June and October. Check the calendar for specific dates.

The Council is made up of one member and one alternate from each local government located within the Council’s jurisdiction. Appointments to the Council are made annually. Both the member and the alternate must be elected officials from the local government. The Council’s most important responsibilities include:

• providing effective representation of the various governmental units participating in the Area Planning Commission;
• electing the seven members of the Area Planning Commission to two-year alternating terms;
• acting in a supervisory and advisory capacity with the Area Planning Commission;
• reviewing and approving the annual work program and budget prior to the first day of the fiscal year; and
• contracting with an independent, reputable certified public accountant to audit the records, books, and accounts of the Area Planning Commission.
